The FDA is warning Americans to beware of fake drugs from Mexican pharmacies. Especially the cholesterol-lowering drug Zocor and also a muscle relaxant called Soma (carisoprodol).

After carrying out some tests the FDA found that the Zocor pills did not have the active ingredient (i.e. they were useless). They also found the carisoprodol was not as potent as it should be.

The Zocor to look out for come in 40 milligram doses, lot number K9784, to expire in November this year. The sub-standard carisoprodol came in 350 milligram doses, lot number 68348A.

The FDA advises anyone who has bought any of these products to contact their doctor, and also to report it to the FDA.
